Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to Optimal Journal of Midwifery Research and Innovation (OJMRI) undergo an initial screening process by the Editorial Team to determine their suitability with the journal’s focus and scope, adherence to submission requirements, academic quality, and ethical standards.
Before entering the peer-review process, all submitted manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using appropriate plagiarism detection tools. Manuscripts with indications of plagiarism, excessive similarity, ethical concerns, or significant violations of publication standards may be rejected or returned to the authors for revision.
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening process will be reviewed by at least two independent peer reviewers with expertise relevant to the manuscript topic. OJMRI applies a double-blind peer-review process, in which the identities of authors are concealed from reviewers, and reviewers’ identities are not disclosed to authors throughout the review process.
The peer-review process evaluates manuscripts based on several criteria, including:
- Originality and novelty of the research;
- Relevance to midwifery research, education, practice, and innovation;
- Scientific quality and methodological rigor;
- Ethical considerations in research and publication;
- Accuracy and clarity of data analysis and interpretation;
- Contribution to the advancement of evidence-based midwifery practice;
- Quality and relevance of references;
- Clarity, organization, and academic writing quality.
Reviewers provide constructive comments and recommendations to assist authors in improving their manuscripts. Reviewer comments and recommendations are carefully evaluated by the Editorial Team before a final editorial decision is made.
The possible editorial decisions include:
- Accept Submission – the manuscript is accepted without major revisions.
- Revision Required – the manuscript requires minor or major revisions before further consideration.
- Resubmit for Review – substantial revisions are required and the revised manuscript may undergo another review process.
- Decline Submission – the manuscript does not meet the journal’s scientific, ethical, or scope requirements.
The final decision regarding acceptance, revision, or rejection of manuscripts is made by the Editor-in-Chief based on reviewers’ recommendations, editorial evaluation, and the overall quality of the manuscript.
OJMRI is committed to ensuring a fair, transparent, and rigorous peer-review process to maintain the quality, integrity, and credibility of published research in midwifery and related fields.
